Taste Zensation
All of our eating life has been about fusion. As a Japanese-American child in post World War II Chicago, my mother’s first food memory, other than ice cream at the corner drug store, was of spaghetti and meat sauce served over Japanese rice. I grew up eating my Auntie Joyce’s fried jalapeno & cream cheese chicken wontons (the recipe is on our website!).
This is fusion as we know it. For generations, our family has blended tastes from different cultures creating unique dishes…A harmonious melding of our Japanese heritage with our American palette.
Thus, it was a natural progression for IFF’s first snack product to be a “hybrid” of sorts. For years, our family hand dipped rice crackers in chocolate – to celebrate many special occasions and family events. We knew the combination was addictive, but far too labor intensive to make on a large scale.
This got us thinking - how could we introduce this delectable creation to snack savvy people everywhere? How could we enhance the process? How could we share our cultural melding and blending with others?
First, we improved the cracker by creating healthier, fat-free crackers using the finest brown rice and tamari in two flavors – classic and hot n’ spicy. We then found Artisan Chocolatiers to cover them in our specially blended chocolate. “Chocolate Mochi Krunch” and “Hot Chocolate Mochi Krunch” were ready for the masses – sweet and salty, creamy and crunchy, healthy and heavenly – what can only be called a taste Zensation.
Welcome to the future of gourmet snack food! We hope you fall in love with our food fusion, just like we did.
